The End is Nigh

Today is the last day of Blog Aid.

My BlogAid has raised in total, $5.34. I’ll triple this and donate $16.02 to Oxfam.

Clearly, this hasn’t been very successful, and I’ll be removing the adverts (they should be removed by the time you read this).

Cleveage for Rent

Hot on the heels of the recent forehead auction, a woman from Glasgow is auctioning ad space on her cleveage.

Rewrite .NET

I thought this article about URL rewriting for .NET might be useful for some people (it was for me).

The article is fairly thorogh, so grab some tea/coffee/poison of choice before starting on it.

Now… I need a dedicated Windows Server…

Follow up

This article has a more advanced way of emulating the Apache mod_rewrite rule.

The Blowers Daughter

I don’t usually write about my general day here, but I’m bored and I’m neglecting this blogger.

Kickers It seems that my finances are in a worse shape than I expected. My Nationwide account had under £20 left, my Natwest account seemed to not have funds avaliable (even though there should’ve been £100 in it, and should have over £1000 overdraft anyway), and I didn’t know the PIN for either my Egg card or Barclaycard.

Luckly, the overdraft on my Nationwide account is still working, so I was able to get those great pair of Kickers shoes! For only £40! Also, H&M seems to be having a huge sale on (if you’re interested), in where most sale items are BOGOF. So I managed to get a belt for fifty pence, and basically all belts are.

I also got the new John Grisham novel, The Broker. I always look forward to Grisham novels, always an addictive read…

Anyway, I had to restrict myself from spending more money though, seeing as I was spending overdraft… but… there was some really good hats (I think I have a hat obsession now, oh well).

Shit happens

Hmm… Should I be worried that when I log into my portal on Nottingham University website, I get this?

You do not appear to listed as a student at The University of Nottingham.

Upgrade

I’ve upgraded my WordPress version to the latest 1.5 beta-1 daily build (dated 24/01/05).

You might see some slight changes, but the majority are on the backend. I’m unlikely to upgrade again until beta-2 or a release candidate.

You might see some downtime later today, when I do a rebuild of the database and files.

New stuff

As you might have noticed, that I have added additional content to this site. Including:

I don’t know why you would want to contact me, but now you can!

Still to do are:

  • About me (biography of sorts). (Idea has been abandoned)

Also, in order to reduced the size of the front page, I’ve cut back to just the latest five posts. I know that the archive feature isn’t working (a known WordPress issue), the search features is probably the best to use if you want the old posts. Hopefully, this will be fixed with the new 1.5 release due soon.

Update

I’ve fixed the archive link problem by upgrading to the latest build of WordPress. Read about it.

eXeem

eXeem has been released today. The site is probably going to suffer from the huge download strain, so I’ve mirrored it here.

Enjoy.

Update: it sucks!

Yep people, don’t use it. It contains cydoor “spyware”, is incredibly slow, buggy, and has a huge risk of fake files. Not much better than Kazaa in my opinion. I’ll leave the download there, but it might be taken down due to the sheer fact of it’s crapness.

Quote of the day

Drink apple juice, ‘coz OJ will kill you.

A Very Long Engagement

I just saw a trailer for A Very Long Engagement, which features Audrey Tautou, and is directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

I think I’m obsessed with Audrey Tautou, oh well.

“A Very Long Engagement” tells the story of a a young woman, Mathilde’s relentless search for her fiancée, who has disappeared from the trenches of the Somme during World War One.

Nailed

Every now and again, something happens that actually surprises you.

This is one of them.

Up, up and away

Does anyone know of a software that takes webcam pictures and archives them? I currently use Fwink, which is a pretty good open source program, but it lacks archiving and more advanced text effects.

Specifically, I need (in no particular order):

  • Archiving of past pictures
  • Ability to sort archived pictures
  • Flexible text writing
  • Works with Windows (I’ll use my Mac at a strech)
  • Can upload by FTP
  • Some sort of script that gives the latest image

I’ll pay for it, but I don’t want to pay too much.

The Raven

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I websurfed, weak and weary,
…Over many a strange and spurious website of ‘hot chicks galore’,
…While I clicked my fav’rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning,
…And my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour.
…”‘Tis not possible,” I muttered, “give me back my cheap hardcore!” –
Quoth the server, “404”.

Original poem is The Raven by Edgar Allen Peo (and was feature on a Simpsons episode).

Thanks to a certain someone who pointed this out :).

Smoke and fire

Well… it seems the owner of the pub next door thinks its funny to burn waste wood in the middle of the day. No it is not fucking funny as I can’t open my window and it is really stuffy in my room. I feel a murder brewing…

Speaking of fire… LiveJournal has been down for all of the night due to power problems at their data-centre. Fairly annoying as I just paid for a full account…

Oh, you can access my LiveJournal from this new subdomain, ejecutive.livejournal.com

Busted!

Shock! Horror! Busted have split up!!

Read more from the BBC.

About time

I thought it was about time I added more content to the site apart from the blogger, so the following have been added, or will be added soon:

  1. Webcam
  2. About Ejecutive.co.uk and tastydirt.co.uk
  3. About me
  4. Gallery
  5. Contact details

Macau-Monaco

Is it me, or is the Macau Formula 3 race track a direct copy of the Monaco track? The last corner isn’t as sharp as Monaco, but the rest looks almost exactly the same!

Oh dear lord

Oh dear! I had no idea it would take this long! No e-mail for 5 days!! Oh well, if you want to contact me then, you can on weiran@tastydirt.com.

> How long does a tag change usually take? Around 5 working days provided everything runs smoothly.

End of a scurge

Or is it…? I’ve not had comment spamming for a while, and any that I’ve had have been blocked by the word filter. I’ll publish my updated filter late (in another file, ‘coz if I pasted it in here my site would probably get branded a porn site).

Anyway, the lack of updates has been mainly due to my exams taking a lot of free time, and now normal day-to-day blogging is now done on my LiveJournal account. I’ll try to get back on track after my exam today, as I have a six day lull of no-examness.

Back with a sorta vengeance

No need to fear, Ejecutive is back after a few hours of downtime (which I still haven’t managed to find the cause oh, but thanks to James from UH-Hosting for sorting it out.)
