Faithless live

As I mentioned elsewhere, tonight I went to see Faithless live in concert. You’ve probably heard all the hype about them being one of the best live acts around, and have to report; they are fucking amazing!

Faithless live in concert

Its been a long while since I saw any live act, I believe the last time was GLC around a year ago. They were good, but lacked flair and originality; their live stuff just sounded almost exactly as if it was lifeted from their albums. With Faithless however, it’s a completely different game.

They really know how to build up an atmostphere. Even though I sat far away, I could feel the passion injected into their music by Maxi Jazz and Sister Bliss. I love how they unpredictably extend sections of their performances to create more tension, which results in a very big sense of relief as it’s resolved. Old tricks I know, but executed to perfection.

They started off with the timeless Insomnia, and then followed with God Is A DJ, two of their greatest hits (it is the Greatest Hits Tour afterall). It was capped off with We Come 1, possibly the best live record around; it was absolutely fantastic and the audience loved it. Unfortunately, there were a couple records they didn’t play that I wanted to hear, namely Giving Myself Away and One Step Too Far, which featured Dido. They did play Machines R Us in the encore; the live version is fantastic!

If you ever get a chance to see them, I highly recommended it. The ticket only cost £27.50, a bargain considering you are getting one of the best live performers around at the moment.

Note: I’ve uploaded a photoset of the concert, but they’re pretty bad as I had to take them from the back of the arena.

Im a big fat show off, last night was my 16th time seeing Faithless and Nottingham was bouncing, in Manchester everyone who was in seated areas was sat down, in Nottingham the seated area was a swell of standing, dancing, cheering and damn right energic wonder.

I’ve got to agree with you about the Nottingham crowd Deeej, there’s nothing better than looking up at the seated areas during We Come 1 to see everyone dancing, one finger in the air! See you at the NIA mate.
