Downlounge

It’s been a couple days and it seems all of Alex King‘s servers are down, including FeedLounge, my only feed reader! As the FeedLounge forums and support are hosted on the same server, they’re down too. This is probably why it’s best to have off site hosting for your support pages and forums, incase something like this ever happens.

Actually, FeedLounge (the web service) is hosted in a co-lo in San Francisco, while the FeedLounge web site is hosted in a data center in New Jersey with the rest of Scott and my web sites hosted on a dedicated server in Austin, TX. Unfortunately, the box in Austin, TX was the primary DNS server for all of these and it burned up on Sunday morning (about 22 hours ago) causing the difficulty in getting to the FeedLounge web site and service.

The FeedLounge web site and service have been up the entire time – hopefully the DNS change has made it to you by now. If it hasn’t, please add 65.90.218.228 to your list of DNS servers in the interim so you can access FeedLounge.

The DNS changes still haven’t propagated to me, however I have added that IP to my HOSTS file, but it still doesn’t load (although I can ping the IP and my.feedlounge.com). Going straight to the IP leads me to “Becky & Andrew’s Website”, any ideas?

65.90.218.228 is the DNS server IP address. The IP address to add to your hosts file for my.feedlounge.com is 207.7.137.170

Again, I can ping that IP, but the browser just gets stuck on “Waiting for my.feedlounge.com”?

I’ve tried refreshing my DNS as well to no avail :(.

Hi, i tried adding the ip address to the hosts file but when trying to browse to the page firefox says this:

“The page isn’t redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”

my hosts file looks like this:

    207.7.137.170 feedlounge.com 207.7.137.170 http://www.feedlounge.com 207.7.137.170 my.feedlounge.com

There must be some caching issue. I just updated my hosts file, and my.feedlounge.com loads perfectly fine for me right now. I am trying to get the DNS issues fixed, sorry for the wait.

Jorge, the IP address for feedlounge.com is 65.98.116.194, so your hosts file should look like this:

    65.98.116.194 feedlounge.com 65.98.116.194 forums.feedlounge.com 207.7.137.170 my.feedlounge.com

And you should be able to use everything: the web site, the forums, and FeedLounge itself as well.

Sorry for not being clear before.
