Camino 1.5

The first new Camino build in a while, including many new features was released yesterday.

I’ve been using a specialised build of Firefox for OS X with Aqua widgets for a while now, but even the Intel optimised build is dog slow on my 2.0GHz Core Duo MacBook with 2GB of RAM. After a day of using Camino, it feels infinitely faster than Firefox and the Aqua widgets look more native, although I do wish they added draggable tabs and some of the features in the Tab Mix Plus add—on for Firefox. Hopefully version 2.0 will include support for Firefox add—ons.

Morrocan family evicted from toilet

A family in Morocco are living in a toilet:

His troubles began several years ago when his daughter was kidnapped and he had to sell everything to try to find her. She was eventually found, but he could not afford to rent the place where he had been living and the family moved into the toilet as a temporary measure. But with no help from the local government and no money to rent anywhere else they ended up staying.

And as if having to live in a toilet isn’t bad enough:

Desperate to do something about their plight, Mr Baja and his wife Khadija Makbout recently went to a local newspaper with their story. But a few days later the local authorities moved in to block up the toilet’s entrance with cement and concrete. Mr Baja, his wife and three children now find themselves barred from the only home they had.

FeedLounge shutting down

FeedLounge blog:

FeedLounge the subscription service will be shutting down this weekend. I am still working on a deal with another party to take FeedLounge free, and things are looking up. The new FeedLounge would be on a different backend however, and will also take some time to develop, so the existing service needs to come offline anyway.

New iPhone Ads

Apple have released three new iPhone adverts, I’d originally gone off the idea of an iPhone but these adverts have gotten me thinking about one again. No-idea on the UK release date, but they will be available in the US on June 29.

Intrestingly, Gruber notes that no other cell phone is advertised by showing off the user interface.
