Microsoft proposed a hostile take-over of Yahoo! today. At $31 a share, that’s 62% over the closing price of Yahoo! shares on Thursday. It just seems like a very bad way to compete against Google, and they’re paying over the odds for what is a struggling company.
It seems the iPhone sends its IMAP mail login credentials to Yahoo without encryption, which means if you’re using a public, unencrypted WLAN then anyone can sniff out your login credentials for your Yahoo account.
I was researching the iPhone’s “push” mechanism with a trace from Kurt Zeilenga’s iPhone, and wondered what error message I’d get from repeating the authentication. Mainly, to prove that the absence of any SASL challenge messages from Yahoo didn’t mean that the mechanism was susceptible to a reply attack. Instead, I gained access to Kurt’s Yahoo account.

While Flickr rolling out new features is nice, I don’t think I’ll be using any of them; my mobile bandwidth bill is high enough thank you.
And I also find: As a gentle reminder, we will be requiring Yahoo! accounts for all Flickr.com members at some point in the future.
Which would be fine, if Yahoo had any decent user names left. I’m sure not going to be called weiranzhang1986ukkent.

Del.icio.us has been down for almost a day now, which is hyper-annoying as it has some link to colour pallets I saved for the re-design, so work is at a halt right now. Maybe it is true, maybe Yahoo does fuck up everything they buy.
Update: It seems to be back up.
